About

MI plus – developing a participatory governance model in culture

The goal of the project is to provide a long-term sustainable framework for the cooperation among NGOs and the public sector, as well as to enhance programme collaborations in the fields of independent culture and new media art, and thus create the conditions for establishing a center for production and the promotion of independent culture in Istria, based on a civil-public partnership principle.

The project MI plus is the result of several years of collaboration among NGOs dealing with independent culture and new media arts, and advocating their better positioning throughout the Istrian region. The project activities will therefore be held in 7 different cities in Istria.

With this project we will provide theoretical and practical training on topics such as networking, co-creation, collaborations between civil and public sector, creative thinking and social inclusion. Also, the project will offer workshops and events involving citizens, focusing mostly on youth, and will also contribute to the cultural and artistic contents within the communities. One of the planned activities is to explore the potential of four spaces selected for the possible future center and analyze the needs of the citizens. In this way, the project will add to the development of an effective, open and participatory model of cultural governance. The duration of the project is from October 29th, 2018 until October 28th, 2020.

The target group of the project are NGOs operating in the field of independent culture, public institutions and other organizations in culture.

The project “MI plus” was awarded with a total of 797.402,28 HRK, of which 677.791,34 was co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund.
